Inclusion body hepatitis (IBH)

Inclusion body hepatitis is caused by adenovirus and characterized by anemia, necrotic and haemorrhagic lesions in liver and haemorrhage in muscles.

  • It affects mainly growers with a mortality of about 30%. It occurs due to stress or immunosuppression in birds.
  • It produces basophilic/eosinophilic intranuclear inclusions in hepatocytes.
  • Characteristic symptoms are anemia and sudden mortality.
