The Enterobacteriaceae are a large family of Gram-negative, aerobic to facultative anaerobic, non spore forming, non capsulated, motile bacteria. This family is the only representative in the order Enterobacteriales of the class Gammaproteobacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. It include the coli, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, Proteous, Citrobacter.
