Surgical affections of Upper Gastro Intestinal Tract

Surgery of oral cavity and oropharynx are;

  • Maxillectomy – Removal of portion of maxilla.
  • Mandibulectomy – Removal of portion of mandible.
  • Glossectomy – excision of a portion of tongue.
  • Cheiloplasty – used to alter the shape of lips, generally to reduce drooling.
  • Tonsillectomy – surgical procedures performed to remove the tonsils.
  • Pharyngotomy – The operation of making an incision into the pharynx, to remove a tumour or anything that obstructs the passage.
