Radiographic Positioning of Animals

Objective is to obtain accurate radiographic details of the part being examined.

  • The position should be such that it provides proper restraint of patient and immobilization of the area to be radiographed without causing discomfort to the patient.
  • In radiography always two view are taken. One view shows everything in one plane.
  • Second view, at right angle to the original radiograph, will usually allow localization of the lesions.
  • Two or more views may be taken on one radiograph, if lead or rubber shielding is used to cover the part of the x-ray film not in use.
