Differences between Strangle and Glander
Both disease occurs in equines but here are some differentiate points between them;
- Strangle
- Acute in nature
- Lung lesions are not tubercle like
- Nasal mucosa show inflammatory changes only
- No ulcer or nodule are formed on skin
- Pus material show presence of gram +ve streptococci equi
- Glander
- Chronic in nature
- Lung lesions are tubercle like
- Nodule, ulcer or ‘stellete’ found on nasal mucosa
- Ulcerative nodule are formed on skin
- Pus material show presence of gram -ve pleomorphic rods i.e. Burkholderia mallei
